For those who haven’t heard my story yet, here’s the condensed version: I grew up in a hair studio! So, naturally, I became a hairstylist first, opening a salon with my family in Virginia Beach, VA. Working together as a team taught me valuable lessons in mentorship, business, and sales. Despite a successful career, I felt a calling for a greater impact in science and decided to pursue academic achievements. With a husband, three kids, and a thriving career, going back to school seemed insane to many, but I knew it was my path to make a difference. I earned a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, a master’s in chemistry, and a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences with a focus on bioelectrics. My research involved using electricity to combat cancers and stimulate the immune system. Transitioning into industry, I quickly became a Senior Scientist for a Clinical Research Organization, gaining even more valuable insights into cross-functional team collaborations. Taken together, my unique experiences made me a rather enlightened communicator. Now, my mission is to share my insights so you can harness the power of communication that inspires and live life by your own inspired design.
